It’s called blowback for not following these two recommendations…
Currently, we change our “allies” more often than Lady Gaga changes her shoes and with about as much discernment. Policing the world and taking a side in every local conflict is NOT “defending our allies”. Ron Paul simply see through the current exploitation of this supposed “defend your allies” (in order to rule the world) concept, while too many do not.
Unfortunately, both of these justifications can be interpreted so broadly as to render this statement completely meaningless. What is the “aggression of an enemy”? Is it an actual attack, or mere rumors of a military buildup? Who is an “ally”? Is it only those with whom the Senate has properly ratified a treaty, or does it include every nation with whom we have peaceful relations?
Ron Paul is pretty out there, especially when it comes to foreign affairs.
