Benjamin Franklin, Those Who Would Remove to America, February, 1784

By Steve Straub On June 18, 2010 · 25 Comments · In Benjamin Franklin

“Strangers are welcome because there is room enough for them all, and therefore the old Inhabitants are not jealous of them; the Laws protect them sufficiently so that they have no need of the Patronage of great Men; and every one will enjoy securely the Profits of his Industry. But if he does not bring a Fortune with him, he must work and be industrious to live”

I welcome any and every person who comes to America legally. All other citizens of foreign nations are criminals, regardless of how hard they work.

To be honest, I don’t the welfare, SS, medicare, etc. at all, not just for immigrants. Equal regulation doesn’t really create equality.

Michelle you can not create equality it is imposible, what the constitution creates is the equal treatment and equal oppertunity of it’s people to improve their lives. It is not about everyone getting two cars and a picket fence. it’s about everyone having the oppertunity to work towards the goal they have set for their lives. Some people have more drive and determination then others.

35% of Americans it was revealed today exist on govt handouts and welfare of one sort or another. This is planned by the social engineering democRATs in order to maintain power – promise freebies to masses at taxpayer expense and in turn get elected/reelected in order to repeat the cycle. I believe we need return to teach a man to fish and you feed him for life and embracing liberty and freedom thru individual exceptionalism and end the welfare state.

It should be. I do not respect a person who breaks our laws to get into the country. The immigration should be improved to be less difficult for those that do respect our laws, and attempt to become a citizen legally. But legal and illegal immigrants are two totally different things.

In any other country you must prove that you have means and some even require 50,000 dollars or more in the bank before you can become a citizen…to come to the United States they can have nothing in their pocket and the idea was through hard work and loyalty to the free market system everyone had the same chance to make a decent living and more here…

That socialist agenda just met the reality of todays tea party patriots in Madison WI… and so goes the decades old union stranglehold on companies and state budgets… so goes this nations return to fundamental principles of our founders and the exceptional Benjamin Franklin.

It’s not Democrats per se, it’s Progressives and Socialists posing at Dems decades ago. The Dem party wasn’t always crappy. Neither was the Republicans. As it is, I don’t trust either party. I think party systems suck and should be done away with. I also think that people shouldn’t have to be rich to get elected. I think paying millions in advertising and whatever to try and win an election is a bunch of bull. All candidates should be heard on TV or radio no matter their resources. And that’s it. A few friendly debates over the course of a year. All these stupid signs on people’s lawns and walls and junk are annoying and a waste of paper and plastic.

There is no question. This fits today, and will fit tomorrow. It would fit if we failed or if we succeed. Honest people can think so “far” ahead with out knowing the obsticles in front of them because truth is truth. There is no “story” to fill because the truth needs no embelishment!

Heck no. That is racist. If someone makes the decision to leave their homeland to move to America, the very least we can do is give them free healthcare and food stamps and free housing and allow them to work under the table so that they never have to pay taxes. If we don’t do that for them…then it just proves how racist the U.S. really is at its core.
